PrimeSite™ allows for custom designs by setting the header and menu design selections to any custom image you have uploaded in your Site Files directory. Insure that your images are on the top level of the Site Files directory (not within another directory).

These graphics can be any format as long as they are compatible with web browsers such as GIF, JPEG, PNG. Insure they are 72dpi in resolution (web resolution). Animated GIF files are accepted. File size has no limitations, but bear in mind the download times associated with large graphic files.

Your site uses the following images to assemble a custom design (header and menus):

  • Header Design (a repeating slice acting as the "bed" of the header horizontally)
  • Header Left (leftmost image within the header on the page)
  • Header Center (centermost image within the header on the page)
  • Header Right (rightmost image within the header on the page)
  • Menu Design (a repeating slice acting as the "bed" of the menu area, complimenting your page links)
Here are a few example graphics to show you the individual header/design elements and some appropriate physical sizing, although there are no restrictions.

(customheader_left.gif example)

This customheader_left.gif example image stays to the left of the design and browser window, and yours can be any size you choose. It can contain your logo, a picture, whatever you wish. For best presentation, make yours match any image you plan to use a rightmost image, such as this customheader_left.gif example image:

(customheader_right.gif example)

Again this right-side image can have any form or design - as long as it keeps the same height as the left-side image for best appearance. To take up the space between these two images - and the reason the custom design method can appear to resize as necessary is the Header Design image (such as this custom_slice.gif example):

(custom_slice.gif example)

This is a very thin vertical slice of one of the other images that repeats itself horizontally. Because it is set to repeat itself, you must choose a slice or section of the design that has a more neutral design. If you select a slice that is too busy or designed you’ll see that it complicates the pattern that is created by the repeating slice, but that choice is up to you.

The width of the slice can be any size as necessary but again the height must match the left and right images for best appearance. Most slices of this nature can be as small as 1 pixel wide!

Creating a custom tile pattern for the menu system is very similar. Take this default custom tile piece for example:

(custom_tile.gif example)

This simple repeating tile of artwork fits very well within the menu area of the default custom design. Again, this piece can be any size you choose, but remember to keep the complexity of the image to a minimum to avoid looking too busy.

Install your custom header pieces with the Site Files... utility located in your configuration system. Insure that they are in the TOP LEVEL of your Site Files listing (along side your other directories such as site_images, download_files, calendar_images, etc) and as soon as you select each file in the Header and Menu Design pulldown selections for your design elements and click UPDATE SITE, your site will be ready to go!
